About me

I'm a system administrator in Dayton, Texas. I run IT for Design Ventures, a sign and print manufacturer: the network, servers, Mac and Windows fleet, the business database, and the machines on the production floor.

Before this job, I ran IT for Woodin Ventures LLC, a gaming entertainment company, supporting its office of 12 people for six years. I also spent nearly eight years managing restaurants and two teaching school. That work taught me to run a crew and explain things clearly. I studied math for a year at Antelope Valley College and learned IT through independent study and hands-on work.

I use AI tools every day, with hard limits on what they're allowed to touch. My independent projects include circuit board design, Linux systems and training a snake-playing AI. I also host this site on a Linux server I manage.

How I work

  • BackupsI test restores as well as backup jobs.
  • TroubleshootingI compare temperatures, run times and error counts before and after a fix.
  • AutomationI limit deletions and require confirmation for risky commands.
  • MonitoringI send alerts when a system fails and when it recovers.
  • DocumentationI keep notes on fixes so I can use them again.
  • AI toolsI check their drafts, test scripts and verify the result.
